Hello Rangsima,
honestly, I was a bit sceptical at the beginning because of this wrong name thing. But I have seen a documentation recently a TV that showed that there are really some terrible host families that misuse aupairs as cheap maids. That's unbelievable and terrible. So I want to trust you that you really want to swap families because there are mean to you and not because you are very picky. We checked you on facebook and you really friendly - so why not get to know you better?
I want to write you something about our family and how our day looks like. Actually, my name is Anne, in case that Aupairworld did not show that you (I just registered there, so I don't know that).
Each day is a bit different. Our oldest daughter Julia attends school from 8 am to 1:15 pm each day. Luisa has to be taken to the kindergarten (about 8:30 am to 1:30 pm). We are normally having lunch together then (which I normally prepare).
In the afternoons, the kids go to different activies (sports, music and such stuff - partly they can go herself, partly they have to be taken there) or we stay at home and they play alone or with us or they invite friends or we make something together like going for a swim…That's often quite spontaneous.
Because my husbands is a teacher, he is normally at work in the mornings, but often at home in the afternoons. I am officially in maternity leave and I am handicaped by a disk slip at the moment, so I can't do all the child care and household stuff at the moment. And whenever I have some spare time, I sneak off to work on my PhD in hydrology (which is almost finished, but I do need every time I can get to finish it as soon as possible). So I would be at home most of the time, but don't bother, I will not be in the mood to control what you are doing ;-).
What we would like the au pair to do would be:
- Sometimes bring Luisa to the kindergarten
- Sometimes help me in the morning with the baby
- Help with the everyday household duties (not the big cleaning, but things like laying the table, filling the dishwasher, folding up the laundry)
- Playing with the kids in the afternoon
- Accompanying the kids to their afternoon activities
- Some help with preparing the meals (if you could cook by yourself sometimes would be cool, but is not mandatory)
That's just the general idea, we have to see how it works best for all of us if you are here (we haven't had an aupair before).
Two things are important for us: Of course we are looking for someone who really likes to take care of the kids. But we need also someone who sees what has to be done and does not need to be asked twice and is energetic.
Some things that might be bother you:
- We are definitely not a family that spends all the time cleaning and tidying up the house. We don't like it dirty, but we don't want to spend all the time doing household stuff, so we only do what has to be done. I hope that is ok for you…(I know people who can't stand it if there is some dust somewhere…).
- I am vegetarian, my family is not, but we are not eating heaps of meat (in family meals - of course you can use the kitchen to prepare your meals yourself)
- Because everything (shops, school, kindergarten) is very close here, we are doing most things by walking or going by bike.
Some things that are really nice here:
- Our kids, of course ;-)
- We live in a very nice town, but also in a very nice suburb (just type "flückigersee freiburg germany" in Google maps): Very quiet, close to a park with a lake, close to the city center.
- We also live in quite a nice house, you would have an attic room and share the floor and a bathroom with our oldest daughter only (who often uses the family bathroom instead)
So, that's about it. Don't hesistate to ask, if I missed something.
In case you are interested please let me know what would be a good time for a skype call.
I hope to hear from you soon,
Anne
