Export of Foodstuffs of Plant Origin to Vietnam
Effective July 1, 2011 Vietnam has imposed that all exporting countries intend to export foodstuffs of plant origin to Vietnam shall be registered with National Agro – Forestry – Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD), Vietnam before the export is being carried out . This is based on Circular Guiding on the Food Safety Control for Imported Foodstuffs of Plant Origin.
In this regards, Ministry of Heath Malaysia through Food Safety and Quality Division has made a formal application to NAFIQAD for registration as the exporting country authorized for export of foodstuffs of plant origin to Vietnam. Accordingly, NAFIQAD has approved the application and listed Malaysia as one of the country authorized to export foodstuffs of plant origin to Vietnam effective from June 10, 2013.
However, Vietnam has set a requirement that all exporters intend to export foodstuffs of plant origin to Vietnam shall submit a Free Sale Certificate issued by the Ministry of Health Malaysia and meet other requirements as stated in Article 5 of the Circular Guiding on the Food Safety Control for Imported Foodstuffs of plant Origin in Annex 1.
Foodstuffs of plant origin involved are as listed in Appendix 1 of the Circular Guiding on the food Safety Control for Imported foodstuffs of Plant Origin. For the issuance of Free Sale Certificate, exporter shall submit Certificate of Analysis which includes analysis of all prohibited pesticides as stated in Annex 3 List of Pesticides Prohibited from Use in a Agriculture in Vietnam. during submission of application of Free Sale Certificate at the relevant District Health Office.
