Male and female crabs were then separated into the following
four size classes based on carapace width (CW) for use in both laboratory
and field experiments: 1) 7–11.9 mm, 2) 12–16.9 mm, 3) 17–
21.9 mm, and 4) 22–26.9mm. These size classes had the highest representation
at the study site; few H. sanguineus above 26.9 mm in size
were collected.
