The results from this preliminary study strongly suggest
that occupational and dietary exposure of humans
to cyanide poisoning with concomitant biochemical and
toxicological effects do occur in connection with largescale
cassava processing and ingestion of cassava based
food products. Table 1 shows the biochemical indicators
of cyanide toxicity measured in large-scale cassava processors
and the comparison of the same in frequent and
infrequent consumers of cassava foods.
