For promoting better plant growth and preventing pest and
disease, the following crop management practices were
performed: hill cultivation, hoeings, fastening of plants to
trellis, pruning of branches in order to obtain single-stem
plants. On October 22, 2002 (68 days after transplanting, DAT),
to avoid plant damage due to daily winds, the main shoot was
pruned after reaching the top wire of the trellis, shortly above
the eighth bunch.
