A specific investigation of the influence of the relative velocitywas conducted due to the fact that the application of servo pressesin cold forging has gained more and more interest. In contrast tomechanically or hydraulically driven presses, these enable a flexi-ble regulation of the stroke curves and, therefore, the possibility tospecifically set the relative velocity between tool and workpiece. The investigations with common tribological systems consisting ofa zinc-phosphate coating and a lubricant have proven that there isa significant influence of the relative sliding velocity on the frictioncoefficient. However, the results also indicated that the occurringtemperatures in consequence of the combination of high slidingvelocities and friction are primarily responsible for the decrease ofthe friction coefficient [17,18].
