2.1.3. Demographic characteristics of the study participants
A total of one hundred and fifty five patients met the inclusion
or exclusion criteria. There were 74 females and 81 males with
ages ranging between 4 to 18 years (mean age = 9.03). The main
etiology for drooling consisted of developmental delays (n = 62),
neurological disorders (n = 64), other disabilities including mental
retardation, dyspraxia, syndrome and airway problems (n = 29).
The participant’s demographic characteristics are summarized in
Table 1.
