Ten samples of raw pumpkin (five from A and five from B) were
peeled, and each one was divided into four parts by two longitudinal
cuts from one end to the opposite. Of these four sections, two sections
(opposite from each other) were discarded, and the remaining two, in
preparation for analysis, were fragmented and placed in a vertical
mixer (IKA — Ultraturrax model T18 basic) to obtain a homogeneous
mass (Rodriguez-Amaya & Kimura, 2004).
