Organizations like the World Wide Fund for Nature see the complex issues surrounding biodiversity. They know that there may well be many species that are more important than these beautiful animals. However, it’s an uphill battle trying to persuade people that an ant can be as crucial as an antelope, a beetle as a bear, let alone generate the necessary momentum to slow the rate of loss. Nevertheless, International Agreements already exist to help protect biodiversity. Some of the most important were signed by 157 countries at the Earth Summit on Biodiversity in Rio Janeiro in 1992.
