5. Conclusions
Compared to conventional irrigation, alternate partial root-zone
irrigation (APRI) enhanced root activity, increased yield slightly and
improved water use efficiency (WUE) on fresh yield and fruit quality
of tomato greatly, but fixed partial root-zone irrigation reduced
yield and quality of tomato to some extent. Suitable concentration
of calcium fertilizer can increase photosynthetic rate, fresh
fruit yield, WUE on fresh yield and fruit quality of tomato. Thus
APRI with suitable concentration of calcium fertilizer is a watersaving,
quality-improving and practical irrigation technology. In
this study, APRI with 0.8% of Ca supplied as calcium chloride is the
best treatment
