I thought I was ordering the Mavic HC shorts that are in the listing, but what came in the mail was actually the Mavic Sprint Short. This makes sense when you look at the price. I thought I was getting a great deal, but in fact, I was buying the Sprint Short!
Well, they're here, and they're not bad, but have some quirks. The materials are nice, very thin, and breathable as they are intended for hot rides, but they feel skimpy, especially since the front of the short runs very low around the abdomen - make sure your jersey is long enough when you stand straight! The sides of the thighs are somewhat see-through, but when you wear them, they just look a different shade than the rest of the short, so it's not like everyone is seeing your skin.
The chamois is pretty good, not as good as my LG Mondo Evo's (my favorite shorts), but still pretty good.
The Mavic logos that run down the thighs on the outside are nice when new, but start to peel after a wash or two, I'm not expecting them to stick around for long - pun intended.
So, are they good for hot rides? Yes, like I mentioned earlier, they're very thin and breathable. Would I buy them again? Probably not, since the front is so low, and my Mondo Evo's are so awesome.
But they're NOT HC's!!!
Oh, and one thing, Mavic shorts run HUGE, compared to the other brands I've tried (LG, Sugoi, PI). In all the rest I'm a Large, but with Mavic I'm a Medium, and even that's not as snug as I like them. Don't trust Mavic's sizing chart, as if I'm anything to go off of, it's waaaaay off.
