Marketing
The marketing responsibilities were taken up Ernie Clermon, on old- time salesman with a varied and lively career. In the mid-1970s he had founded a cosmetics pyramid sales organization in England and took up residence in a “manor house of the Ludon estate, living like a lord.” During the early bleak months of Holiday Magic as he and his associates tried to sell the idea to skeptical Britons they were they consistently turned down or snubbed. Clermom finally declared he would have to see Lord Thompson of Fleet and get the project rolling. His colleagues laughed at his bragging but within a few hours he was picked up by the peer’s limousine, much to the shock of his associates, and taken to the Thompson estate. Within two weeks he had arranged final financing for the venture. In fact Clermon, also from Northern Ontario, knew he was a struggling radio salesman in Timmins, Ontario.
