Step 4. This step represents the 'strategy' component of strategic imperatives. In the case of the aspiration-driven imperatives, management needs to develop a goal-driven road map - an executable strategy for the imperative - and ensure key stakeholders review and approve the path. In the case of a situation-driven imperative, management needs to decide on the best strategic response and finalise a plan for moving forward. Appendix 4.1 at the end of this chapter indicates an example of how this process can actually take place in practice.
