Although alcohol use among teenagers is on the decline, it remains a serious problem for this
age group. Three out of four high school students have consumed an alcoholic drink before
their graduation. The most severe effect of teenage drinking is that it leads to a dependency in
adult years. A major study reports that teens who start drinking the age of 15 are four times
more likely to develop an alcohol addiction than those who do not begin drinking before the
legal age of 21.
