Catalyst was reduced in situ at 800 ◦C in flowing 5% H2/N2 at 50 sccm for 2 h. After reduction, the flow of 5% H2/N2 was stopped and immediately replaced by Ar at the same flowrate. After 25 min of inert flow, the rate was reduced to 20 sccm and simultaneously steam was introduced into the system. After 10 min, the vaporized mixture, consisting of Jet A with 1000 ppm sulfur, was introduced into the system. Steam reforming was conducted at 800 ◦C, steam to carbon (S/C) ratio of 3 and atmospheric pressure for 10 h time on stream at 52,000 h−1 gas hourly space velocity. After 10 h time on stream, the reaction was terminated by stopping steam and organic feed while turning off the furnace simultaneously. This was quickly followed by flow of argon to flush the reactor so that the catalyst did not undergo further changes.
