SPECIFIC THERAPEUTIC ELEMENTS IN TREATMENT
Through a combination of specific therapeutic elements, the program seeks
to address:
a. management of the binge/purge cycle, to reduce the behavioral symptoms
of bulimia;
b. ability to manage maintaining factors involved in relapse, including
psychosocial stressors and emotion dysregulation;
c. burden and stress within families of managing a chronic condition evoking
difficult emotions including guilt, shame, and anger; and
d. patterns of family communication and interaction disrupted by an eating
disorder.
