Continuous ethanol fermentation performed at ≤35 ◦C resulted in similar fermentation efficiency of 88.5–90.8% and productivity of over 20 g/L/h, although residual sugar showed an increas trend with increas- ing temperature. Because of the lack of viable yeast cells at 37 ◦C, the ethanol yield significantly decreased to 72.3%, and the residual sugar sharply increased to 18.6 g/L (Fig. 3b). Thus, fermentation using the strain KF-7 could be performed at ≤35 ◦C.
