Our search identified one systematic review comparing intentional
delivery by immediate induction of labour with expectant
management in women with preterm prelabour rupture
of membranes (PPROM) between 30 and 36 weeks of gestation.18
This systematic review combined four small RCTs with
a total of 389 participants.44–47 Two of the included studies
required demonstration of fetal lung maturity for entry.44,45
Antibiotics and steroids were not given in any of the included
trials, so expectant care in these trials may not have been
comparable with expectant care as it is currently practiced
