Pedestal rocks are also called mushroom rocks. These rocks are primarily formed by the wind action. In areas where isolated rock peacks are exposed to the surface these type of rock structures are fromed. Wind can lift sand particles upto 2-3 meter hieght. Wind carrying fine sand particles act as abrasive and start cutting and polishing the isolated rock exposure. This action work upto a hieght of 2-3 meter only. So the softer bottom part of the rock get eroded faster than the harder upper part. Effectivily a mushroom like structure forms.
