Negative pressure wound therapy
Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) consists of applying
a foam or gauze dressing over the surface of the wound.
It is secured with a transparent film to form an airtight seal.
Continuous or intermittent negative pressure is applied.
Wound healing is accelerated by removing excess interstitial
fluid, improving blood flow reducing bacterial count, stimulating
angiogenesis and increasing tissue perfusion.
