Ongoing debates and unresolved issues
A number of key debates and/or unresolved issues are reflected in the scholarly and the policy-oriented human security literature. One of the burgeoning areas of research involves the relationship between globalization and human security--or insecurity. There is widespread agreement that the forces of globalization are intensifying economic connections and the pace of social change and thus transforming international politics and recasting relationships between states and peoples with important implications for human security. Further, it is not just goods and capital that are exchanged across borders, but ideas, information, and people.
