By the CAP ordinations for both biota and abiota, a high consis-tency was found between the spatial variations in both communitystructure and species composition (Fig. 3a and c) and changes inthe environmental conditions (Fig. S1). Mantel test demonstrateda significant correlation between abiota and biota at abundance( = 0.399, P < 0.05) and composition ( = 0.277, P < 0.05) resolu-tions. The BIOENV matching analysis signified that the top 10best correlations with the biota were the combination of nutrientstogether with pH and DO (Table 2).In terms of the matrix based on the modified Gower dissimilaritymeasure, however, no consistence with the environmental changeswas found. The best matching combinations of the environmentalvariables with this matrix mainly were the nutrients alone.Univariate correlation analyses revealed that like the -diversity, the dispersion measures based on both communitystructure (ZBC) and species composition (ZS) were remarkably pos-itively related to the nutrient NH4–N, but negatively correlatedwith DO concentration and transparency (P < 0.05) (Table 3). Asregards the values of dispersion based on the modified Gower dis-similarity matrix, on a significant correlation was found with thenutrients and SiO3–Si (Table 3)
