Several screened respondents
mentioned that the availability of free screenings
enabled them to get tested since it eliminates any
financial burden. On the other hand, some respondents
mentioned that the distance and location of
HBV testing sites made these screenings inaccessible
for them. Many of the screened respondents
were screened at outreach events organized by the
African Services Committee and mentioned that
its availability was the primary reason they got
screened. One screened woman conveys this sentiment
by stating: “To be honest with you I got tested
because the service was there… they were offering
a free service, so I was like, why not, it wouldn’t
hurt…. the service was right there, it was free, it
was in arm’s reach, so I took the opportunity.”
