2.5. Data analysis
Statistics were performed using SYSTAT 12 (Systat Software, Inc.,
Point Richmond, California). Data were rank transformed to meet
the assumptions of normality and homogeneity of variance. A twoway
ANOVA was used to determine the effects of day and salinity
on MPN/g of V. vulnificus, where day and salinity were fixed factors.
A Tukey’s HSD post-hoc test was run to determine which factors
were significant. A one-way ANOVA was used to determine the
effect of salinity on change in condition index from the onset to the
conclusion of the experiment (14 days). Significance between initial
and final CI was determined with a Student’s t test (a ¼ 0.01).
Percent mortality as a response to salinity was analyzed using
a one-way ANOVA. All tests were set at a significance level of
a ¼ 0.05 unless otherwise indicated.
