Introduction
Goatfish, of the family Mullidae are widely distributed throughout
the Pacific and Indo-Pacific regions. Goatfish has three
common genera, that exists in Hurghada, Red Sea. They are
Upeneus, Parupeneus and Mulloidichthys, (Kuronuma and
Abe, 1986). Goatfishes are an important component of demersal
fish assemblages and artisanal fisheries that are established
around coral reefs in shallow water of the Red Sea (Kumaran
and Randall, 1984). Goat fishes are considered to be the most
economically and commercially important species inhabiting
the northern Egyptian Red Sea sector.
