For Adrar the wind was found below 3 m/s for 13 % of the
time at 10m ground level this shows that wind machines can
produce energy for 87 % of the time using wind speed at 10m
above ground level. At 50 m, the wind was found above 3 m/s
for 79 % of the time, the wind turbine can produce energy for
79% of the times. At 10m height, the frequency distribution of
wind data indicates that wind remained 3m/s and below it for
almost 20% of the time during the entire year at Timimoun and
Tindouf and above it for rest of the period, as shown in Figure
5. This means, that the energy could be harnessed for 80% of
time using wind machines with cut-in-speed of 3 m/s or more at
these locations. The wind speed remained between 0 and 3 m/s
for 28 % and 30% of the times at Timimoun and Tindouf
respectively at 50 m AGL. So 72 % and 70 % of the times, the
energy could be delivered by WECS at these sites.
