1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this specification is to provide a uniform basis for the evaluation of molded paper
pulp parts. This information is supplement to the base engineering drawing (4001-70XXXX-XXX) or
ODM released drawings for each pulp tray.
2.0 SCOPE
This specification applies to dry pressed molded pulp material used for the manufacture of
all retail packaging components approved by WD’s Content Solutions products business
unit. It represents minimum acceptable standards for quality and function for the molded
pulp tray. This specification is to be used in conjunction with the individual engineering
drawing, QA Protocol, and test methods. In the case of specific attributes or criteria not
covered, local specifications and recognized industry standards will apply.
3.0 CLASSIFICATION OF DEFECTS
3.1 Class A: Faults which prevent the tray from protection the product:
3.1.1 Dimensions outside of tolerances shown on engineering drawing
3.1.2 Part damaged upon receiving, which loses structure integrity
3.1.3 Part has out gassing issue or have pungent odor which does not comply with
WD’s safety and environmental specs.
