The facility employs floating raft aquaculture, with between 8and 10 million oysters in culture. Approximately 1 million of theoysters are harvested and sold annually. The oysters cultured at thefacility are a triploid of C. virginica, as opposed to the native diploidof the same species. The floating rafts cover an area of approxi-mately 5850 m2(approximately 45 m from E to W, and 130 m fromN to S), and are located completely within the top 0.05–0.10 m ofthe water column.
