The effectiveness of the intervention was evaluated at screening and 3-month follow-up with the Depression,
Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21) (Lovibond and Lovibond,2004). The results showed a statistically significant improvement in symptoms (depression, p=0.06; anxiety, p=0.05; stress, p=.014), sustainable at 3-month follow-up. The authors concluded that a CBT group for people with a first episode of psychosis that focuses on the management of anxiety can be an effective and viable means of reducing levels of anxiety and associated stress and depression. This model is recommended for use by community mental health teams
