Eddy currents are a typical example of such phenomena, allowing the implementation of striking, eye-catching experiments that are conducted routinely in class demonstrations, science museums, etc. This phenomenon plays a key role in a great number of interesting applications including induction furnaces, electromagnetic braking, levitation, nondestructive testing, identification of metals, vibration/positioning sensing, evaluation of coating thickness, and others, as well as in cases where they have deleterious effects such as power loss in magnetic cores.
