In Thailand, intensive cultivation of the Giant
Tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon) began in the mid-1980s (Flegel,
1997; Flegel et al., 1995a), with the disease caused by the yellow
head virus (YHV) first impacting P. monodon aquaculture there in
the early 1990s (Boonyaratpalin et al., 1993; Chantanachookin et al.,
1993).
