The plants were harvested by hand at the full-blooming period, and then dried under the shade with humidity of 10%. Some agricultural traits of A. annua L. such as plant height and the number of brancheswere measured in the field before harvest. After harvest, yields of fresh herbage and fresh leaf were determined. In dried plant materials, some other agricultural traits such as dry herbage yield and dry leaf yieldwere also calculated. Dried and separated leaf samples were kept in plastic bags at room temperature until analysis for essential oil and artemisinin contents.
