Dear Suzie,
Hi! I had a great date last night, and I'm so excited, I want to tell you about it right away. I went out with Fernando. You didn't meet him when you visited Colombia, but he's 21 and he studies architecture. I met him at my 20th birthday party last month. He's a friend of Paula. (You remember her from your visit here, right? she's the one who loves to dance!) Anyway,he's really good-looking! He has long, dark hair, and brown eyes. He's much taller than me, but that's OK.
Well, in traditional style for us Colombians, he picked me up exactly on time, at 7.00 p.m. Of course, my parents asked him to come inside so he could introduce himself! I think they approved of him because they smiled a lot. After they finished questioning him(poor thing),we left in his car and .... guess what ... he even opened the door for me to get in!
And at the restaurant,he moved the chair for me to sit down What a gentleman! I really like that about him As you know,I think there aren't enough men with 'traditional' values these days.
We had a great meal (the restaurant was La Santa - where we went once, remember?) He told me all about his life. He's from florencia, a city in the south, but after he graduates he wants to stay here in Bogota and be an architect. Oh, and the best part of the meal was the end - he paid!
Then we went to a small bar and talked for a couple of hours. I wanted to stay longer, but i had to be home by 12(parents,again!). He walked me to the door and gave me a sweet kiss goodnight on the cheek. My mother opened the door right at that moment and saw us. I think she was waiting for me to come home. I just laughed, but Fernando looked very embarrassed.
Anyway, my friends say that this style of dating is too old-fashioned,but I think it's romantic. It was much better than other dates I've had, where the men want to go Dutch all the time!(I mean, why invite me out and then ask me to pay? That's crazy!)
So, that's my news. I wonder where we'll go for our next date? I'll see him again on the 24th, next Friday. I can't wait! We didn't have enough time to decide where to go, but I'll write and tell you about it afterward. Oh, and how about your love life? How is Dave ... or is it Car! now?!
Lots of love,
Ana Luisa
