Malaria is a serious disease and a major public health
problem, which causes the death of children and adults
worldwide. Infection in humans is caused by a parasite
belonging to the Plasmodium genus, and the species
Plasmodium falciparum causes the majority of morbidity
and mortality association with this disease [1-3].
In 2012, there were 207 million cases of malaria worldwide,
with the majority (80%) occurring in the African
region. Thirteen per cent occurred in Southeast Asia, and
this represents a reduction in the prevalence of only 236
