Because the concept of the growth-induced water potential
can be applicable under various environmental stress
conditions, this concept is very useful for agricultural applications.
In Satsuma mandarin fruit, for instance, growth of
fruit could be sustained while Satsuma mandarin trees were
subjected to drought stress, enhancing sugar accumulation
in fruit being the mechanisms of fruit expansion explained by
the growth-induced water potential .
Also, in tissue culture adjustment of tissue culture media can be considered from
the viewpoint of the concept of the growth-induced water
potential to regulate growth of plantlets.
