The catalase activity was checked by dropping few drops of H2O2 on
the culture. The quantitative assay of cellulase, amylase, xylanase and pectinase was done by
dinitrosalicylic acid method12. For checking the efficacy of the strains to grow and produce
alcohol, each strain was cultivated in basal medium supplemented with various sugars and
organic and inorganic nitrogen sources.
