The canals used to be beautiful. In the old days, the water running through them was clear and fresh. People used canal water for everyday needs. Kind used to swim in them, and boats leisurely made their way up and down, selling and transporting things. It was a quiet and pleasant life. Children used to catch fish easily in the shallow water. Mothers used to sit by the sides of the canals and chat with neighbors and friends. Everyone used the canals, and there always used to be something interesting happening there.
