Imperial Airways in 1927 offered first-class travel to Paris for £9 and secondclass
travel for £7.10s (Wright, 1985). In these very early days, there was no
need for a curtain to separate passengers paying different fares, because the
first- and second-class passengers were put on separate planes, with the second
taking 20 minutes longer.
