Bacillus megaterium Bm4C isolated from nickel contaminated soils significantly reduced the toxicity of nickel in Brassica juncea and augmented the plant growth significantly. In this study, it was suggested that plant growth-promoting traits such as, the production of phytohormones, siderophores and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid deaminase was responsible for the increase in the plant growth (Rajkumar and Freitas, 2008).
