Setting a custom paper size:
ViewPlus embossers have many pre-loaded paper sizes. However, there are sometimes unique paper sizes that may not be included. This tutorial explains how to create custom paper sizes.
1. Create a Custom Paper Form
Go to START and select CONTROL PANEL. Select PRINTERS AND FAXES.
NOTE: In Windows XP, go to START, then CONTROL PANEL. In Windows 2000, you will only have the option PRINTERS.
When the dialog box PRINTERS AND FAXES is open, go to FILE and select SERVER PROPER- T
Select the FORMS tab in the dialog box that appears. Check the CREATE NEW FORM box. The box FORM NAME becomes available. Tab to the box FORM NAME and type in a name for your special paper size.
Continue with the FORM DESCRIPTION (MEASUREMENTS) box. You can choose to use English or Metric units by selecting the correct radio box. Type the correct width and length of your paper in centimeters or inches. It is also possible to state the printer area margins that you want the paper to have.
NOTE: A4 tractor fed paper is 21.59 cm wide and 30.48 cm long.
Select SAVE FORM. You have now set up your own default paper size. Finish by selecting OK.
2. Apply Your Custom Form to Your Embosser
Select PROPERTIES from the context menu of the ViewPlus embosser to which you want to apply your new paper size.
A dialog box will open. On the GENERAL tab
Another dialog box will open. Select the PAPER/QUALITY tab page, and choose AD- VANCED. In the PAPER SIZE drop down menu, select your custom form size. Select OK.
In the following dialog box select APPLY
followed by OK.
3. Apply Your Custom Form in Microsoft Word
To ensure paper settings take effect, verify them in two places in Microsoft Word – first
in the Printer Properties and then under FILE, PAGE SETUP.
Open Microsoft Word. Go to FILE and select PRINT. Make sure a ViewPlus embosser is selected in the PRINTER NAME box.
Select PROPERTIES. A print dialog box will open. Continue by choosing the ADVANCED tab. In the dialog box that opens, select the PAPER SIZE tab and choose your new paper size. Choose OK to close the dialog boxes. Next, select CLOSE instead of PRINT to close the window. Confirm by choosing OK twice, then CLOSE to close the window.
From Microsoft Word, go to FILE and select
PAGE SETUP. The PAGE SETUP dialog box
will open. Select the PAPER tab. In the PAPER SIZE drop down menu, select your custom paper size. Confirm by pressing the ENTER key. Finish by selecting OK.
