Enterprise ontology is a collection of terms and definitions relevant
to an enterprise to ensure that all parties involved have a
shared understanding of the relevant aspects of an enterprise
(Uschold, King, Moralee, & Zorgios, 1998). Enterprise ontology is
intended to assist the acquisition, representation, and manipulation
of enterprise knowledge. Such assistance is via the provision
of a consistent core of basic concepts and language constructs.
Other roles of enterprise ontology, or the enterprise model, are as
follows (Fox & Gruninger, 1998): firstly, it needs to be able to explore
alternative models in the design of enterprise. Secondly, it
must supply the information and knowledge necessary to support
the operations of the enterprise.
In order to establish a process-centered enterprise structure, an
enterprise ontology is also needed in which the center of the entire
enterprise concepts is a ‘process’ concept, and where all the concepts
are linked to each other by using ‘process’ concept. In this paper,
context-rich knowledge is provided during the process
execution through the establishment of process-centered enterprise
ontology comprised of well-known commonsense concepts
used in enterprises.
The main objective of this paper is to propose the framework for
process-centered knowledge model and enterprise ontology, and
to develop a KMS for the creation and retrieval of context-rich
knowledge
