Box jellyfish belongs to the class Cubozoa. This class has the least number of
species in phylum Cnidaria. There are 2 orders, 6 families, 14 genera, and 40 species
in this class (Daly et al., 2007; Gershwin, 2008; Gershwin and Gibbons, 2009; Lewis
and Bentlage 2009). Box jellyfish is considered the most venomous creature in the
world (Hamner, 1994). It has caused thousands of human deaths worldwide (Fenner,
2000). The severity of the box jellyfish sting can be predicted from their bell. The
more bell height they get, the more deadly they are. However, not all box jellyfish are
lethal. Some cause mild pain or itching. They can be divided into 2 groups,
Carybdeids (Figure 1) and Chirodropids (Figure 2) (Fenner, 2005).
