motivation of the network marketers. The motivation is a form of empowerment in network
marketing. Network marketers desire to provide guidance and then have their downline go
forth and do great things. Employee empowerment is inherent to the network marketing
business model. The more empowered one’s downline the less work one is required to
perform to get the downline to perform well (Isa et al., 2012; Williams, 2001). Network
marketers develop empowerment through providing information on the group’s performance
and outcomes, rewards for contributions, sincere desire for others to succeed, knowledge
sharing, and allowing the downline the power to make decisions that influence performance
and procedures.
