Despite the problems experienced with the TOS project, and indeed information systems in general within Metalco, Andrew Murray, the general manager of Western Australian Operations, felt confident that the project he was proposing coined the Integrated Management Information project would not experience the same challenges. Murray acknowledged that the IMI project would introduce not only new ways of doing business but also new computer hardware and software to support these new ways. He felt, however, that the choice of SAP AG, globally the leading supplier of enterprise wide integrated information systems, as the software supplier would mitigate some of the risks associated with trying to introduce all of these things simultaneously. In any case, Murray felt that the benefits far outweighed the risks.
