The service must be provided without effort on the part of the guest. Escort a guest rather than telling them where to go; offer to have an item picked up rather than telling the guest where to bring it; make calls to secure information rather than telling the guest where to call; have a staff member contact the guest rather than telling the guest who to contact; etc. In other words, provide a service rather than telling the guest how to secure the service. If the service is such that it could clearly be satisfied much more completely by another departmental staff member, either escort the guest directly to that other staff member, repeat to the staff member what the guest has already explained about their need, introduce the guest to the staff member, assure the guest that this person will be able to assist them and invite the guest to call you directly if they have any further needs; or call the appropriate staff member and let them know of the guest’s need and that the guest is on their way.
