The particle size distribution for potato chips 23.6 is shown in Fig. 2. Note that the oily particles granulate so the mass is skewed towards larger mesh sizes. Granulation is more pronounced for higher oil content so the authors assume potato chips 23.6 to be representative of the actual size distribution of all samples It should be noted that once the Potato Chips particles have hydrated there is no longer a clear particle size distribution that is to say there are less clearly defined particles and so the utility of a particle size distribution is questionable However, we report here the approximate particle size distribution of our particles to facilitate comparison to past and future work concerning effects on bolus rheology (in vitro or in vivo) from particle size and size distribution.
