Type 2: linguistic
In the instances which follow, the focus shifts to language itself, which is no
longer ‘as it should be’. Many teachers will have experienced L2 learners’capacity to create new meanings/forms through their knowledge of one language allied to a partial command of a second language. In the three examples below,the teacher himself creates new forms/meaning through word-play. I will cite each examples, and then provide a gloss of all three. extracts 4 and 5 appear in the first part of the lesson ; extract 6 in the latter part.
