3.2. Screening for the ability of bacterial and yeast isolates to
utilize different saccharides
Bacteria and yeast isolates revealed different abilities to utilize
cellulose and different sugars as listed in Table 1. Yeast isolates
(Y-26 and Y-39) were selected for further studies as they
showed the highest efficiency for utilization of different saccharides. They were identified as Candida tropicalis Y-26 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae Y-39, with % similarity of 98%.
