2.1 Unit: First Grade “Comparison of length”
The purpose here is to add to experiences that will from the foundation for students' understanding of quantities and measurement through activities like comparing the lengths of object.
When comparing quantities like length, first allow students' experience the process of comparing length directly. Then create situation in which direct comparison is not possible, and guide students to the concept that they can compare lengths by using the length of an object familiar to them based on how many lengths of the familiar object correspond to the length of the item being examined.
