I have many good Canadian friends and have spent a fair amount of time there. I am offended that you say we are self-centered and blind. That is farthest from the truth. The reality is that all of Americans fully know the negative side of our government, big business, racists, school system, on and on and on. Not one of us is blind to that. But when we look around the world and see what there is to compare to, yes, we definitely believe we are the best. I've traveled the world and all I hear from Europeans and Asians is the typical stereotype of Americans, most of which is Bull S. Almost none of them have been their or spent enough time to know. In fact, it is you Canadians that are far more absorbed with yourselves being Canadian then we are full of ourselves being American - despite the fact that we truly have a right to brag about what we, as a nation, has accomplished. Far more Canadians apply for US citizenship each year than Americans wanting to be Canadian. More people from all over the world become US citizens each year than all other countries put together. That is the true measure of the quality of a country - how many people are wanting to get instead of out. We had over 1 million people pledge allegiance to our flag and country becoming citizens last year and only 1,500 giving up their citizenship - almost all were super rich wanting to get out of paying taxes by the way. As far as acting more European, do you mean elitist, racist, so nationalistic that they can't even make the Eurozone work for 10 years, still are having armed conflict. Its been 150 years since any state went to war with another state, yet Europe still is having mass-murdering, genocidal maniacs running some of those countries. I'm sorry, but you are very fortunate to be living in Canada with a neighboring country like America instead of one like Germany, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine, or Denmark.
